How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as fun soulful insights into all the different parts of my psyche.

What was your reaction to the news you’d be playing the FSN final?
I was so shocked I really didn't think I would get it, so I was just very surprised and then very nervous and then very excited and now I'm like a mix of all three emotions!

What can the Rock City crowd expect from your performance?
The crowd need to get ready to vibe, sing along, get into their feels a bit, have a little dancey-dance and just have fun, I can’t wait!

Why did you enter FSN?
I entered because the ad kept coming up on my feed and then I just kept hearing about it, and I take literally everything as a sign, so it was heavy on my radar and I'd seen some clips of the previous show at Rock City from last year and it just looked like so much fun, so I sort of just psyched myself up and applied!

Who are your biggest musical influences?
This is such a hard question I feel like the list is literally endless but some of my biggest musical influences are Erkyah Badu, Cleo Sol, Nina Simone, Jill Scott, Ella Fitzgerald, Aaliyah, Greentea Peng, Joy Crookes, Kehlani, Ari Lennox, Victoria Monet, The Cheetah Girls (don't judge me, just check their discography), Destiny's Child, and so many more that I've missed!

What Nottingham artists are you loving at the minute?
This is about to be another very long list, but I love all of these people and you guys need to listen to them, for real: Tracy Luvv, Molly Hindley, KAP, Mya Eliza, Jayahadadream, Veeuda, Phebmusic, Saffron Gray, Brian Kabrel, Courtney, Lyvia, Parisa East, Swantje, Ashley Kinlock, Omari Marsalis, Madeeha, Princess Trium. Again, there are many more that I've missed!

What are your biggest non-musical influences?
Life! It sounds very cringe, but my music is like my diary, once I read back what I've written, I can see where my heads at and the influence is always just like a slightly confusing amalgamation of random things I've taken in consciously and subconsciously that somehow all end up fitting together.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
The thing that I've really loved about sharing my music is developing a love for performing as well, I definitely have a little nervy b before every show but watching people react in real time and seeing people actually enjoy what I do is really special.

Any last words for LeftLion?
Thank you for asking me all of these questions, I hope that at least some of the answers I've written are somewhat cohesive!

The Future Sound of Nottingham final will take place on 2 July. No tickets or booking required. Crowd participation is part of the final vote.
