It may only be October, but we all know we need a bit of festive cheer to look forward to. Wollaton Hall has got just the treat in store, as it's having a glow-up for Crimbo time, with a brand-new light installation.

The new event features a gorgeous winter paradise with a trail of sensory discovery through four marvellously magical lands. It’s specially designed to fit into the natural landscape of the Hall and Gardens and all, so it’s going to look mega on the ‘gram. It’s the perfect way to enjoy all the Christmas cheer while still staying safe and social distancing. Nottingham City Council and event organisers Kilimanjaro are committed to delivering a safe event for all. Measures include careful planning of the trail route to manage visitor flow, ensuring that social distancing can be safely maintained throughout and several other safety measures including contactless payments and e-ticket access will be in place.

It takes place from Friday 27 November 2020 to Wednesday 6 January 2021, and tickets are £12.50 for children, £17.50 for adults, or you can take the whole famalam for just £59.90.

As if things couldn’t get more magical, the organisers of Wollaton at Christmas have started the search today for a local star to be guest of honour and light up this event on Friday 27 November.

A spokesperson commented: “During a challenging year there have been some outstanding acts of kindness across the city and county. We want to be able to recognise these efforts, with a unique experience.

“It could be someone who has lit up your day and added a bit of sparkle in your life, or it could be someone who has been through tough times and deserves a unique treat - a friend, neighbour, colleague, teacher, key worker a child or grown-up. The nominee must either live, work or study in Nottinghamshire.”

The winner will bag a family ticket (for four people to the event) and an overnight stay at the stunning De Vere Orchard Hotel, which is a stylish, eco-friendly hotel just fifteen mins away from Wollaton Hall. Proper luxury business.

To nominate your Wollaton at Christmas Star you must live or work in Nottingham city or the county, all you have to do is go to the website and nominate your chosen person. Closing date for nominations is 8pm on Monday 16 November and the winner will be announced on Friday 20 November.

Everyone’s got someone that deserves to feel special – it could be your mam who has baked for the village during lockdown, a nurse who has worked their boots off, or someone else who has generally been absolutely brilliant.

Even if you don't win, you should definitely attend the event regardless. It’s set to be an absolutely gorgeous way to set off the Christmas season in the most stylish, stunning, socially-distanced way possible.
