Inspired by the achievements of Team GB athletes and the amazing efforts of local community heroes, I Am Team GB has created the Nation’s Biggest Sports Day, taking place on Saturday 24 August 2019. There will be hundreds of free and fun activities across the country, put on by amazing volunteers, known as I Am Team GB Games Makers.

Us Notts lot will be treated to an ice hockey taster session, off-ice skills challenge and family skating session - all free of charge. Ryan Rathbone, sports development officer at the NIC, said, "The events taking place at the National Ice Centre will include an off-ice skills challenge, enabling anyone to become a hockey master. By completing all the challenges - skating, puck control, passing, shooting and 1v1 - everyone can have a sense of achievement of becoming a hockey master.

"All the challenges have been specifically designed to be simple whilst giving people a taste of the sport. There will also be a free family skating session from 5:30 pm to 7 pm and we will also be offering a series of ice hockey taster sessions. This will allow people to try ice hockey in a fun and safe environment and these taster sessions will be available throughout the afternoon.”

I Am Team GB is a national campaign that aims to harness the power of the Olympics to make Britain more active; they want people to be inspired by their sporting heroes, feel part of Team GB and then get out and take part in an activity themselves. Everything is completely free and you don’t even need to sign up, just turn up on the day and crack on.

Activities open from 4 pm on Saturday 24th August.
