Robin Hood Festival

When: Monday 27th August – Sunday 2nd September

Where: Sherwood Forest

What: The summer hols are coming to an end, but there’s still plenty out there to entertain, starting with the Robin Hood Festival. With storytelling, medieval music and performances, there’s plenty of fun to be had all week down at Sherwood Forest. It’s absolutely free and a great place to nosh on a picnic.

Notts Classic Car and Motorcycle Show

When: Monday 27th August, 10am – 4pm

Where: Thoresby Park

What: Calling all motor ‘eads! Thoresby Park will be displaying over 600 classical cars this bank holiday Monday. Don’t worry if cars aren’t your cuppa tea, there’s also gonna be children’s entertainment along with food and drink. A great way to spend your bank holiday, even if it’s probs gonna rain.

How much? £3.00 - £9.00, kids under 7 go free.

The Diary of a Teenage Girl: A Cinematic Happening

When: Wednesday 29th August, 6:30pm

Where: Nottingham Contemporary

What: The film follows the story of Minnie, a 15-year old girl who charters everything in her diary. From socially defying sexual exploits to her creativity and attitude, the film explores positive sexual expression and identity. A great evening is in store, with events featuring a live comic art wall, illustrated by artist, Jade Sarson, showcasing the theme of ‘If you could offer advice to your younger self, what would you say?’

An Evening with the Cast of Harry Potter

When: Thursday 30th August, 6:00pm

Where: Southbank Bar, Nottingham City

What: Ten house points to Southbank for whacking on this event, which will feature a quiz with prizes, live owls, and potion cocktails. They say the cast will be there for a Q&A, but whether it’s the actual stars or rudy extras, you’ll have to find out for yusens.

Stripped Bare Book Launch

When: Thursday 30th August, 6:30pm

Where: Waterstones Nottingham

What: Notts author Sharon Bull will be launching her new book Stripped Bare at Waterstones on Thursday. The book takes on the stigma attached to mental health and details Sharon’s own mental health struggles and spending addiction problems, as well as the toxic effects that society can have on people.
